Limo Etiquette Guidelines For First Time Riders
Renting a limo for the first time is a fun and exciting experience. However, it can also present a variety of unknowns. Here is some limo etiquette advice and tips for your first limo ride.
Pay In Advance
Generally, when you call and schedule a limo, you will agree to a payment plan. Most limo companies require you to pay for the limo in advance with either a check, cash, credit card or money order; that way, the driver does not have to deal with collecting and holding onto your payment as they drive you around.
Bring Cash For A Tip
Even though you should pay for your rental before hand, make sure that you bring some cash with you so that you can tip your driver at the end of the evening. It is common etiquette to provide your driver with a tip.
You may tip them a percentage of the overall bill that you were charged, between 10% and 20%, or a set amount that you feel is adequate. The longer your driver takes you around, and the more special requests that they do for you, should increase the tip that you provide them with at the end of the night.
Bring The Agreed Upon Amount Of Guests
If you agree to a specific number of guests with the limo company, make sure that you don't show up with additional guests. Specific limos are designed to carry, by law, a specific number of passengers.
When you bring additional guests, you put your driver in the uncomfortable position of having to refuse to drive if you go over their legal capacity. Your driver is responsible for the safety of the passengers.
If you are not sure of the size of your party, it is much better to overestimate than underestimate. Don't expect a larger limo to be available last minute; many limo companies book out their fleet far in advance.
Obey The Law
In movies, it is common to see illegal activities taking place inside of limos, such as underage drinking and drug use. In reality, these type of activities could get your party kicked out of your limo and your contract cancelled on the spot without a refund.
Have fun, but make sure that your guests are obeying the law.
