different ways to reach your vacation destination

How do you get to your vacation destination? Do you drive your own car? Do you take a rental car? Do you take a bus, train or plane? There are so many great options for getting from one place to another, so, how do you know which means of transportation to take for your vacation? I created this blog with the hopes of giving myself a better idea of what my family could do to make our vacations even more fun and affordable. Hopefully, all of my research will help you and your family get away and enjoy yourselves even more.

Three Fun Things To Do When Your Flight Home Gets Cancelled

Whether it's due to bad weather or problems with the airplane, cancelled flights can make your journey home stressful. If your airline can't accommodate you on the next flight out, there are a few things to make your flight delay more bearable. Here are just a few ideas to use when your flight gets cancelled and you get stuck in town overnight.

Get The Most Out Of Hotel Vouchers

When airlines can't get you on a new flight until the next day, they often offer travel vouchers for local hotels. Sometimes the amount of the voucher will cover a basic room, and sometimes they only cover part of your stay. Instead of booking a basic, no-frills room, consider using the voucher as partial payment toward a night in a suite.  You can also use a hotel or travel app to find last-minute deals on luxury hotels, which can often be booked at just a fraction of the original cost. Whether you use the voucher the airline gives you or you simply pay for a room on your own, treating yourself to upscale accommodations is a great way to beat the flight cancellation blues.

Book A Private Luxury Car

Many limousine companies offer special rates for rides to and from the airport (such as Naples Limousine). Instead of paying for a taxi cab or waiting on a hotel shuttle bus, consider booking a luxury sedan or limousine as your transportation to the airport. You'll arrive in style and have a comfortable ride to the airport terminal. If there is no limousine company available, consider calling a ride-sharing service, which allows you to travel in a private car at a reasonable price.

Enjoy One Last Night On The Town

No matter how long your trip was, chances are you missed a few attractions. Your hotel's concierge can help you find a great place to visit on your last night in town. From little-known museums to bars and restaurants popular with locals, there are lots of interesting things that the hotel's concierge will have inside information on. In some cases, the concierge can get discounts and last-minute tickets for sporting events and live entertainment. Just because you have to spend an extra night in town doesn't mean you have to camp out in your hotel room.

Remember, even if your airline is able to put you on another flight on the same day as your cancelled trip, you might want to choose to stay an extra day. Many airlines will offer cash or a discount on your next flight if you give up your seat for another passenger. If the airline wants to pay you to stay an extra day and it fits your schedule, consider saying yes so you can enjoy an extended trip.
